Hi, I’m Carrington.
In 2011, I graduated from the University of North Florida with a BA in English–a versatile degree that I have since been able to apply to an array of industries. With the onset of COVID-19, I decided it was finally time to pursue my goal of working for myself from the comfort and safety of my own home.
I appreciate the opportunity to work with you, and would like to take a moment to tell you some things about me that can’t be put into a resume.
What my resume does not tell you is that I have an unquenchable desire to bring correct spelling and grammar to the world on a white steed. It fails to mention my ability to spot errors at a single glance. From books, from emails, from packaging, and on one occasion from faded instructions engraved on a metal locker door, they leap out for me to catch them. My resume does not describe the ease with which I learned to switch between MLA and AP Styles while acquiring my English degree. It does not tell you that I consciously use my own style in my personal writing, adopting practices from British English when I feel the reasons for their usage are more self-evident than in the U.S. variants.
Likewise, I have developed such enthusiasm for my work in sales and marketing that it has begun to extend into my personal hobbies. From creating my own blog to showcase my work and gain WordPress knowledge, to taking foundational online courses in PR and marketing, to reading books about branding, I am dedicated to constantly learning and developing my skills, and would love the opportunity to further these interests for your organization.
My resume presents facts and experiences, but it does not contain my passion for language and learning, for the fast-paced and ever-evolving world of digital marketing, or for the opportunity to set a professional red pen to the world. It is that passion I would like to bring to your projects.
